The Philanthropy/Grants Committee is responsible for stewarding the Foundation’s resources through the fair and transparent distribution of scholarships and community grants. The committee establishes guidelines and processes for reviewing applications, recommends award recipients to the Board of Directors, and monitors the outcomes of funded projects. By ensuring the effective allocation of funds, the committee strengthens community programs, supports local students, and demonstrates the Foundation’s commitment to advancing the region’s future leaders.

Committee Expectations:

  • Develop and manage policies and processes for scholarships and community grants.
  • Review applications for scholarships and grants, ensuring compliance with eligibility requirements.
  • Recommend award recipients to the Board of Directors for approval.
  • Provide written reports to the Board of Directors on award cycles, recipients, and the impact of funded projects.
  • With staff support, annually submit objectives and a work plan as part of the planning and budgeting process.
  • With staff support, annually evaluate its work and outcomes, reporting to the President/CEO.
  • Annually review the committee charter, work plan, and membership, ensuring active participation.
  • Track and assess the impact of scholarships and grants on students and community organizations.
  • Ensure that board and committee members, their businesses, staff, and immediate family members are not eligible to apply for or receive awards.
