Responding to the spike in demand, Amazon has announced it’s hiring 100,000 full and part-time jobs around the country in its operations, delivery and stores, including Whole Foods Market. Additionally, the company is investing $350 million in increased compensation for hourly employees in the U.S. through the month of April. ACCESS UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE
Learn about and apply for Unemployment Insurance benefits through the Arizona Department of Economic Security.
Note that for individuals ineligible for unemployment insurance, FEMA offers the Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) program for individuals unemployed as a result of a Presidentially declared disaster such as COVID-19.
EMPLOYEE RESOURCES FOR CHILDCARE
In partnership with the Arizona Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs, Governor Ducey announced emergency operational funding to support youth impacted by COVID-19 school closures. The state funding will enable Boys & Girls Clubs in Arizona to extend program hours from 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM and provide kids with breakfast and lunch at no additional cost to its members. This will help accommodate children of health care workers, while encouraging and leveraging private donations from individuals, corporations and foundations.

FAMILIES FIRST CORONAVIRUS RESPONSE ACT
This bill responds to the coronavirus outbreak by providing paid sick leave and free coronavirus testing, expanding food assistance and unemployment benefits, and requiring employers to provide additional protections for health care workers.
