Learn how to make ceramic bowls and help feed the hungry! Every year, the Foothills Food Bank and the Sonoran Arts League sponsor The Empty Bowls Project where people can donate hand-made ceramic bowls to help raise money for the Foothills Foodbank in their efforts to provide food and provide other assistance to individuals and families in the desert foothills area.

The class will consist of two sessions: Sept. 8 and Sept. 22. On Sept. 8, you will make the bowl and on Sept. 22, you will glaze it. We are offering a morning or afternoon session for each day, and you have chosen the morning session.

Here are the times:

Sept. 8  (9:30-12:00) – bowl construction

Sept. 22 (9:00-12:30) – glazing (takes a longer time)

Sept. 8   (1:00-3:30) – bowl construction

Sept. 22  (1:00-4:30) – glazing (takes a longer time)

You can make and glaze up to 4 bowls.   The class is free, although on the day of the class we welcome cash contributions towards the cost of materials. You may also want to keep one of the bowls you made, and a donation to the Foothills Foodbank would be a nice gesture.

We are so happy to provide this opportunity, under the guidance of Donna Anastasi, a Sonoran Arts League member, to contribute to a good cause and to have fun in the process!
