Welcome to our new Desert Foothills Theater Managing Director
Desert Foothills Theater and the Foothills Community Foundation are excited to announce
our new DFT Managing Director, Mr. Terry Temple.
Terry brings business and art together to create vibrant opportunities for artists young and old and enrich the community with the benefits of robust storytelling and theater performances. His roots are deep in the Valley as an Arizona native, ASU alumni, and local business owner of Temple Music and Performing Arts in Scottsdale. Terry’s previous twenty five-year career as a professional large church music and liturgy director gives him experience and a deep understanding of the workings of non-profit organizations, specifically in volunteer management, community building, and fundraising. He served as the national director of Survival School, an organization that trained leaders of large nonprofit organizations whose primary workforce were volunteers. Terry is a strong advocate of
creating a safe, creative learning environment for children and was one of the original trainers of the country’s first Safe Environment training programs.
As a musician and theater director, Terry has directed more than forty shows over the last decade, most recently directing the very successful Pirates of Penzance Jr. here at DFT. Liana Doe, a DFT mom and volunteer, shares our excitement: “We are delighted to hear Terry Temple will be joining Desert Foothills Theater! My daughter, Sophia, had the opportunity to be a part of Pirates of Penzance Jr. under his direction. He was amazing working with a large cast of kids and gave them a priceless experience to grow personally and as young actors. We can’t wait to see where Terry will take DFT, the sky is the limit!”Terry understands the needs of an arts organization from both sides of the curtain. He is unique in his ability to bring to bear his creative and entrepreneurial skills for the development and growth of an organization. He is passionate about providing a strong foundation and a thriving environment for actors, directors, patrons, and the Desert Foothills Theater community.
