The Desert Foothills Volunteers group is putting out a heartfelt call to the community; your help is needed now more than ever. On Tuesday, July 22 from 12:00 pm to 3:30 pm at Desert Hills Presbyterian Church, community members are invited to attend the “Get Involved Gathering” (GIG) where anyone can meet our local non-profits and GET INVOLVED!
This is created out of the extreme need for volunteers, right now.
While summer brings a slowdown in volunteer support as snowbirds head out of town, this year has been particularly challenging. The Foothills Caring Corp’s non-emergency medical transportation is up 275%! Our Foothills Foodbank is trying to fill double shifts during the day to handle their needs. The Kiwanis Marketplace desperately needs folks in the afternoons to help cashier and organize products. 8 Local nonprofits will be on-site and all need YOUR help!
The GIG event is your one-stop opportunity to get involved, make a difference, and connect with causes that matter to you. Attendees will:
• Meet face-to-face with multiple nonprofit organizations in one place.
• Discover volunteer roles that match your passion and availability.
• Complete key requirements like fingerprinting, background checks, CPR certification, and a new “Identifying Senior Challenges” class—all on-site.
• Enjoy a complimentary lunch from Stumblina’s Cantina while hearing directly from community leaders and nonprofit teams about the urgent needs they face.
