Carefree Cave Creek Chamber of Commerce Awards College Scholarships To Outstanding Cactus Shadows High School Students

By at June 21, 2011 | 7:41 am | 0 Comment

“The ability to support young adults as they pursue their education is something that the Chamber feels is essential for the success of our entire community,” says Chamber president and Noah Kendrick.

CAREFREE/CAVE CREEK Ariz., — (May 14, 2011) – Hard work pays off. That’s what Cactus High School seniors Ryan DiCicco and Kaitlyn Accola learned, as they became the recipients of college scholarships provided by the Carefree Cave Creek Chamber of Commerce.

Noah Kendrick of Edward Jones in Carefree developed the scholarship program in 2010 as a way for the Carefree Cave Creek Chamber of Commerce to recognize and reward college-bound students who demonstrate outstanding performance in their high school work internship programs.

DiCicco received a $2500 scholarship which he will use this fall to attend college at Arizona State University. DiCicco completed his work internship with Custom Accounting & Tax in Cave Creek.

Accola received a $500 scholarship that she will use at Scottsdale Community College for her fall semester. Accola completed her work internship at the Bad Donkey in Carefree.

Students were nominated for the awards by their school advisors.

The scholarships are funded through the Carefree Cave Creek Chamber of Commerce as part of its annual golf tournament held at Tatum Ranch Golf Club. Raffle tickets were sold and a portion of those funds were applied towards two student scholarships.

According to Noah Kendrick, president of the Chamber, “The ultimate goal of our organization is to support a healthy, thriving businesses community. We found that our annual golf tournament raffle was an innovative way to raise funds to reward and recognize outstanding students who will become the future business leaders of tomorrow. The ability to support young adults as they pursue their education is something that the Chamber feels is essential for the success of our entire community.”

The Carefree Cave Creek Chamber of Commerce was established more than four decades ago to support the economic vitality of the region. In addition to the scholarship program, the Chamber provides support to business owners and influencers with a visitor center that handles thousands of inquiries each year.

“When visitors arrive to our area, they are looking for a complete experience. Our visitor center allows guests to call, stop in, pick up maps and literature, get a feeling for the area and receive first-hand recommendations to make their experience memorable,” said Chamber director Patty Villeneau.

The Chamber also provides the region with monthly networking breakfasts and other social and educational events that bring members and guests together each month to learn, socialize and receive much needed business and peer support.

They also host a yearly business awards event that recognizes outstanding businesses, entrepreneurs, members and non-profit volunteers.

The Chamber’s numerous other offerings include a comprehensive web site, monthly e-newsletters, an annual community directory, and much more.
